NYU Garden Shop Plant of the Week

Share/Bookmark
In 2009, we planted small seedlings of Feather Reedgrass in the triangle near the entrance to Coles Sports Center. Today, those two-inch seedlings, or plugs as we call them in the landscape trade, have grown to maturity offering a vertical complement to the surrounding hedge of Knockout roses. Despite several heat waves this summer, we have yet to give supplemental water to the plants in the triangle, which is a testament to their value as low-care perennials. In fact, Feather Reedgrass was the 2001 Perennial Plant of the Year. You can read more on this popular ornamental grass here.
